In a normal menstrual cycle, women experience menstruation (also known as a period) followed by the release of an egg. During menstruation blood, cells and mucus are discharged from the uterus. The menstrual cycle is the monthly series of changes a woman’s body goes through in preparation for the possibility of pregnancy. Each month, one of the ovaries releases an egg — a process called ovulation.

Your menstrual cycle might be regular — about the same length every month — or somewhat irregular, and your period might be light or heavy, painful or pain-free, long or short, and still be considered normal. Within a broad range, “normal” is what’s normal for you.

However, crippling cramps, heavy bleeding, serious fatigue and other symptoms that affect your quality of life and cause you stress, depression, and bad mood.


Avoid depressing movies

The emotional state you’re in before and during your period is the key to promoting the secretion of hormones and emotions like sadness and depression keep us down. During this time we’re predisposed to feel a bit down, angry, sad or irritated and watching a sad and depressive movie can only make matters worse. This kind of movies will cause additional emotional stress, something we don’t need at all. That’s why it’s best if you steer clear of sad, depressive and scary movies if you want to avoid making things worse. Stick to comedies and you’ll feel much better.

Get your mind of the period

Focusing on something else is something that might help you avoid the uncomfortable situations of getting in a fight with someone or crying all day. When you distract yourself with other things you will forget what you are suffering from and you won’t increase the pain by thinking of it constantly.

Don’t consume dairy products

Diary worsens you bloating and moreover it can exacerbate cramping. Milk, cheese, cheddar cheese, and ice cream are high in arachidonic acid, an omega 3 fatty acid which can increase inflammation and can cause cramping.
